Carpentaria’s Out of Home Care (OoHC) program provides an alternative and supportive home for children and young people with a disability who are unable to live with their parents. Our OoHC services are available in Darwin and Alice Springs.

Young people may be placed in the program on a short term, long term or respite basis.

Our young person service model

We provide a holistic model of support that caters to the individualised needs of young people in a way that meets their community, social, emotional, health and wellbeing goals. This integrated approach puts young people with disability at the centre of planning and support, considers their current needs and future aspirations and aims to support them to achieve a life and lifestyle they choose.

Our qualified team deliver culturally appropriate, evidence based and trauma-informed supports to help children and young people with disability to reach their goals and live a great life.

Working closely with the NT Department of Children and Families, a tailored transition and comprehensive support plan is developed to meet individual requirements of every young person moving into a Carpentaria home.

Carpentaria young person service model: Young person centred, strengths-based approach, decision making, integrated and inclusive, trauma informed and culturally appropriate.

'Working with young people is about more than support, it’s about mentorship. We walk alongside young people as they build the confidence, independence, and everyday life skills that help them thrive long into the future.'
