The Carpentaria Board of Governance, CEO, Executive, staff and broader Carpentaria community are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Carpentaria Chairperson Peter Stewart during the Fannie Bay Swim Classic.
Peter joined the Carpentaria Board in 2015 and took on the role of Chairperson in 2017. He has been a strong leader and supporter of Carpentaria, guiding the organisation though significant change including the transition to the NDIS, the successful completion of major construction on the Harry’s Place precinct and the move to a Company structure. Peter’s leadership has guided the continued growth of Carpentaria during this time, while maintaining focus on participants and the delivery of high quality services to meet the needs of Territorians.
Peter will be remembered for his commitment and leadership to Carpentaria and his drive to build a strong, viable, high quality and sustainable service. His vision was to build the organisation for the long term, ensuring that the NT had an organisation dedicated and designed to meet local needs. Carpentaria is in a very strong place as a result.
We thank and acknowledge his significant volunteer contribution to our organisation over the past 6 years.
Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
