Physiotherapists also provide support with:
- Developing gross motor and mobility skills (including rolling, sitting, crawling, walking and ball skills)
- Alignment assessment and treatment for deviated postures and walking patterns (including wry neck, round back, knock knees, tip-toeing and flat foot)
- Managing balance problems, frequent falls, coordination and clumsiness
- Prescribing and use of specialised equipment such as seating, standing frames and walkers, which help children become involved in play and social activities essential to their wellbeing
- Participation in physical activities like bike riding, swimming and ball games
- Developing age-appropriate neurosensory motor exercise plans
- Assessment and advice on orthotic devices including ankle and foot orthoses, shoe inserts and medical grade footwear
- Safe manual handling and transfers
