Gerry* is non-verbal and lives with an intellectual disability and complex support needs, including severe epilepsy and seizures. He requires consistent and attentive 24/7 support, especially to ensure he is safe when a seizure occurs.
A core group of 7 staff consistently support Gerry to live a full life. They work collaboratively as a team, and with other service providers, to understand Gerry and his unique support requirements. They have been successful in reducing restrictive practices and increasing Gerry’s ability to make his own choices. The development and implementation of a healthy eating plan and additional community outings has seen positive overall benefits, including increased energy and engagement in activities.
