We are pleased to announce our commitment of $4 million into expanding infrastructure, housing and human resources to deliver specialist disability support, accommodation and therapy services in Alice Springs.
Delivered over the next 3 years, this significant investment is set to increase the availability of high-quality housing and supports for Central Australians with disability.
With a 50 year history of service provision in the NT, and a focus on filling the gaps, we are pleased to be announcing this support for Alice Springs.
"I look forward to building a team of highly trained Disability Support Workers and experienced Allied Health Professionals to deliver these important services and I am really pleased to have returned to Alice Springs to drive these initiatives,” says Craig.
To lead the expansion of our Alice Springs services, Craig Willingham has been appointed Director of Regional Services. Craig explains, “We know there is demand for high quality accommodation options for people with disability in Alice Springs and we are here to meet this need, delivering both SIL and SDA services. As a not-for-profit, for-purpose organisation, Carpentaria is dedicated to re-investing funds into Central Australia and we are confident that the availability of accommodation services, alongside our ongoing focus on comprehensive staff training and participant outcomes, will be welcomed by the sector. ”
Preparing high quality homes
Renovations are currently underway on a home in Sadadeen to increase its accessibility in preparation for Supported Independent Living services. We anticipate that up to 7 new roles will be created once this work is complete.
In 2025 we look forward to commencing designs for the construction of a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home in Gillen, and we welcome participants to co-design this home with us.
Referrals for SIL and SDA are now being accepted, and Craig welcomes the opportunity to discuss Carpentaria services with the Alice Springs community.
