Four year old Oliver* regularly sees a Carpentaria Occupational Therapist (OT) for upper limb therapy. His recent goal has been to learn how to use a power chair to move around more easily and independently. He has been working on how to control and direct the chair, with support from an Allied Health Assistant who supports the implementation of the therapy plan developed by the OT.
He is building his power chair skills and can now independently explore his environment. His fine motor and communication skills have also improved over this time.
The NDIA has approved the power chair for full time use and Oliver is well on his way to becoming an independent and confident Assistive Technology user.
